DSEX rises 1.33%, but turnover dips below Tk400cr after 4 months

The benchmark index DSEX of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) jumped 1.33%, or 67 points, to reach 5,111 today (20 October).
However, daily turnover dropped by 11% to below Tk400 crore after four months, as investor participation thinned. The previous low of Tk372 crore was recorded on 24 June.
Meanwhile, the blue-chip index DS30 gained 27 points to finish at 1,965, while the Shariah-based DSES rose 18 points to 1,081 during the session.
Of the traded issues, 300 advanced, 53 declined, and 45 remained unchanged.
Dominage Steel topped the turnover chart, followed by Orion Infusion, Summit Alliance Port, Rupali Life Insurance and Square Pharmaceuticals.
Struggling stocks First Finance and Monno Fabrics hit the upper circuit breaker at 10%, while other major gainers included Samata Leather, Information Service Network and Intech Limited.
On the other hand, FAS Finance was the day's worst performer, followed by Nurani Dyeing, Vanguard AML BD Finance Mutual Fund and SEML Lecture Equity Mutual Fund.
