Four more clubs in the ongoing Dhaka First Division Cricket League 2025–26 were relegated on Monday after failing to show up for their respective first-round matches at four different venues.
The clubs -- Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity, Orient Sporting Club, Kakrail Boys Club and Surjotorun Club -- did not report for their scheduled fixtures, resulting in walkovers for their opponents. Tri State Cricketers, Uttara Cricket Club, Sheikh Jamal Cricketers and Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club were consequently awarded full points without play.
With these four teams, the total number of relegated clubs has risen to eight, following a similar fate suffered by four clubs that failed to appear on the opening day of the competition on Sunday.
Meanwhile, only one of the five scheduled matches on Monday could be played. At BKSP Ground-2, BKSP produced a dominant performance to defeat Shinepukur Cricket Club by 108 runs, opening their campaign on a winning note.
Off the field, the controversy surrounding the league continued to escalate as 44 rebel clubs organised a press conference on Monday at the Dhanmondi Club Limited hall room of Metro Shopping Mall.
During the briefing, the clubs described the December 10 press conference by the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) as "totally falsified" and once again questioned the legality of the current cricket board.
