Simu Liu has given fans of the cult-classic video game 'Sleeping Dogs' a reason to celebrate. The 'Shang-Chi' star has recently confirmed that the script draft for the long-awaited film adaptation has been completed, calling it a major step forward for the project.

First released in 2012, Sleeping Dogs follows undercover cop Wei Shen as he infiltrates Hong Kong's criminal underworld. Despite strong reviews, hopes for a sequel were dashed when Square Enix, the publisher, cancelled follow-up plans — leaving the story's future uncertain until Liu stepped in earlier this year with his vision to bring the game to life on the big screen.

Liu revealed that while Square Enix has been supportive, the biggest challenge lies in convincing studios of the IP's potential. Fans have flooded social media with excitement, sharing clips and praising Liu's dedication. With Liu reportedly set to star as Wei Shen himself, the long-dormant franchise might finally find new life in cinemas.
