Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested a couple early today for "making and publishing porn" on international adult sites.

The couple also reportedly promoted adult content on social media and tried to recruit "content creators" to this end, claimed the CID.

A CID team arrested the couple from Bandarban around 3:30am today, said Jashim Uddin Khan, special superintendent of police (media) at a press briefing at the CID Headquarters in Dhaka's Malibagh.

The arrestees are -- Azim and Brishti -- both aged 28.

The Dissent, a Dhaka-based digital news portal, published an investigative report recently on the couple titled, "Bangladeshi Couple Becomes Global Porn Stars, Draws Youth into Industry".

A CID press release said the couple not only produced and published pornographic content online but also encouraged others to join the same platform via social media -- an offence under the country's cybercrime laws.

Citing media reports, the CID said that the couple's videos were uploaded on several international websites. Preliminary findings show that since May 2024, they released around 112 videos which were viewed over 26.7 million times globally.

The two had ranked among "the top 10 global performers" as of October 2025, said the CID release.

The CID said that the couple promoted their content via social media platforms such as Telegram, Facebook, and Instagram, offering cash rewards for referring new "content creators". They reportedly used Telegram channels to recruit others.

The CID recovered mobile phones, SIM cards, cameras, tripods, and other equipment during the arrest.

A case has been filed against them under the Pornography Control Act, 2012, said the CID official at the briefing.
