DMP's Lalbagh Division's Deputy Commissioner of Police (DC) Mallik Ahsan Uddin Sami has called on the public not to believe everything published in the media about the murder of Jagannath University student Jobayed Hossain.

Speaking at a press briefing after Jobayed's janaza today, the police official said, "Some media reports have created confusion among the public by spreading misinformation about the incident. We cannot disclose everything at this stage for the sake of the investigation."

He added that police have already gathered significant information and expect to share updates by tomorrow morning. "No one will be spared. It may take time to apprehend the culprits, but we are determined to arrest the real killers. Once they are caught, it will become clear if anyone else was involved," he said.

At the same briefing, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal Central General Secretary Nasir Uddin said, "Jobayed's elder brother Soikat recently passed the 49th BCS exam, but he didn't live to hear the news. We demand the immediate arrest of the perpetrators and want justice."

Teachers' Association General Secretary Rais Uddin announced that the university community would observe two days of mourning, including remembrance meetings and rallies. Issuing a 10-hour ultimatum to see progress, he said, "During the past fascist regime, police were turned into enemies of the people. They must now be accountable. Why were the victim's father and uncle kept waiting for five hours? We will not tolerate such behaviour... The Jagannath University family will not back down by even an inch on this issue. We also don't want to see the current officer-in-charge remain in his post after such an incident."

JnU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Rezaul Karim expressed solidarity with the students, saying, "We will continue to stand by our students until the real culprits are brought to justice. The university administration will provide full cooperation to law enforcement."
