BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today called on law enforcement agencies to refrain from harassing members of the country's minority communities.
Speaking at a programme at the BNP chairperson's office in Gulshan, Fakhrul said, "I receive a lot of news. Please, no one should harass any person from these communities."
"I want to say clearly to the government, especially to the law enforcement agencies, we don't want to see you putting our minority people in any kind of danger or creating any kind of problem for them," he added.
Reassuring the Hindu community, Fakhrul said, "I want to say again, we are with you, and we will remain with you."
"Some people are trying to break the unity we created through the Liberation War of 1971 and the mass uprising of 2024. They are trying to create division. We have to remain alert about this," he added.
The event was attended by leaders from the Matua community, Shri Guru Sangha, Sanatan Sewa Ashram, and Hindu Sangha Samiti, along with senior representatives of the organisations.
