Jobayed Hossain's janaza was held today at Jagannath University's science building ground, with his father, university teachers, and fellow students in attendance.

"I sent my son to university to study, but he returned home as a corpse today. How will I console his mother?" said Md Mobarak Hossain, father of slain Jagannath University (JnU) student Jobayed Hossain, who was killed in Dhaka's Armanitola yesterday.

Jobayed's father broke down in tears before his son's janaza. "I am 58 years old, and I haven't got much life left in me. I want the real killer to be punished. I appeal to Chief Adviser Dr Yunus for justice," he said.

At the janaza, BNP's student wing Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) Central General Secretary Nasir Uddin expressed condolences, saying, "Another JnU student died on the third of this month. Since the July uprising, four JCD activists have been killed. These are not isolated incidents but planned murders. The justice system must ensure that real perpetrators are tried swiftly."

JnU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Rezwanul Karim said, "We are deeply shocked. From the beginning, we have been cooperating with law enforcement."

Teachers' association leaders, JCD activists, and representatives from other student organisations, including Shibir, Bagchas, Chhatra Adhikar Parishad, and UP Bangladesh, were present.

Jobayed, a student of the statistics department and a convening committee member of JCD's JnU unit, was killed yesterday. Later last night, police took a female student named Barsha into custody in connection with the incident.
