Three individuals were arrested tonight in connection with the murder of Jagannath University (JnU) student Jobayed Hossen.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Lalbagh Division DC Mallik Ahsan Uddin Sami confirmed the development to The Daily Star.

He said, "During a special drive, we have so far arrested three suspects. However, their identities will not be disclosed at this time due to the ongoing investigation. A detailed briefing will be held tomorrow morning. At this time, we cannot share further information."

Asked whether accused Mahir Rahman's mother handed him over to police, the Lalbagh DC replied, "I have no information on this. Full details will be shared tomorrow morning."

Jobayed's body was found on the staircase of a house in Armanitola area of Old Dhaka yesterday.

A postgraduate student of the 2019-20 academic session at JnU's Department of Statistics, he had gone there to provide private tuition.
